COLLINSVILLE — The Illinois Department of Transportation announces the closure of northbound Illinois 3, where it passes under Interstate 270, on Saturday, April 11.
Beginning at 6 a.m., all lanes of northbound Illinois 3 will be closed, under Interstate 270. No traffic will be allowed to travel the northbound lanes of Illinois 3 during the removal and replacement of a damaged bridge beam. All northbound lanes of Illinois 3 are expected to reopen by 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 11.
During this closure, motorists will need to utilize the marked detour along I-270 and Illinois 203 to travel northbound on Illinois 3 at this location. The department’s Day Labor and the district’s Wood River Sector will perform this work.
Traffic on I-270 will not be affected.
Traffic control devices and message boards will be utilized during this closure to assist motorists making their way around the work zone. Motorists are advised to consider alternate routes or allow additional travel time. The department asks that motorists be patient, reduce speed and use extreme caution while travelling in the vicinity of this work zone.
