breast cancer pink ribbon
ROXANA — Pink for You will celebrate its fourth year Saturday, Oct. 4, at Roxana Park.
The breast cancer event is open to the public and proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign.
Open registration begins at 8 a.m. for the day’s activities. Participants can decorate wagons to participate in the “kids’ fun walk” at 8:30 a.m.; the 5K walk/run begins at 9 a.m.; disc golf will be at 10 a.m.; Zumba at 10:30 a.m. and bags tourney at 11 a.m. There will be vendors and food from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Raffles, entertainment and vendors will be inside the RoxArena.
Registration forms are available at the Roxana Park office and will be available until the day of the event. There are three registration fees this year. A $20 registration includes a T-shirt, door prize entry, snacks and activities; a $10 adult fee includes activities and snacks; $5 for children 5 and up includes activities and snacks. Children younger than 5 are free.
Because October is breast cancer awareness month, organizers are asking for help to make the River Bend a “Hot Pink Community.” Area residents can show their support in the fight against breast cancer by displaying pink ribbons on their homes, around trees or on a window beginning the first of October. Merchants are encouraged to decorate their windows or even run special “pink events” in their stores.
