WEST ALTON, Mo. — A body found in the Mississippi River Monday was identified by authorities Tuesday as a West Alton boater reported missing Saturday night.
The body of Jason D. Hayes, 33, was found Monday in the Mississippi River near the Lumière Place casino and hotel complex on the St. Louis riverfront, according to media reports.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol report states Hayes’ 1988 Lowe Guardian collided with an unknown object, causing the motor to become dislodged. The boat was found empty at approximately 6:40 p.m. Saturday about 2 miles downstream of Pelican Island on the Missouri River.
Memorial services for Hayes were pending Tuesday night.
