ALTON — Two people were hospitalized after a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon at the intersection of Illinois 140 and Stanley Road.
Pfc. Emily Hejna said Tuesday that a 38-year-old Brighton man was transported by ambulance to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where he was treated for his injuries and released. A 55-year-old Moro woman was treated and released from a local hospital.
Police have not yet interviewed the driver of a third vehicle to determine whether he was injured.
Although two people fled the accident scene, police have not charged anyone in the crash.
"The preliminary investigation is showing that the occupants that fled were not at fault in the accident," Hejna said. "The reason for them fleeing is unknown."
