ALTON — The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that a public meeting will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Alton High School, 4200 N. Humbert Road, to discuss the Alton-Godfrey Transportation Study.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide updated information on the project to the public and to receive public input on any issues or concerns. The project’s purpose is to improve transportation flow, safety and connectivity between Illinois 3, Illinois 111 (Homer Adams Parkway) and Illinois 255 in Alton and Godfrey. Possible alternatives include: no action, upgrades of existing roads and connections, and roads on new alignments with new connections. The potential preferred alternative will be presented at this meeting.
Handouts and display boards will be available for public review, as will information regarding engineering, land acquisition and environmental issues. Representatives from IDOT and their consultants, Amee, Horner & Shifrin, and Lochmueller Group, will be available to discuss the project and answer questions.
The meeting will be an open house format. No formal presentation will be made.
Residents will be able to comment for the record in writing. A comment form with instructions on how to submit also will be provided at the meeting.
