WOOD RIVER — Bring your kids for a safe and exciting family night bike ride.
Wood River Parks & Recreation is co-sponsoring the seventh annual Bike Ramble Friday, June 5. The route begins and ends at the Roundhouse. The lineup is at 7 p.m. and the ride will start at 7:30 p.m.
“The concept for the ramble came about after my family and I participated in the Tour de Belleville bike ride,” Wood River City Councilwoman Cheryl Maguire said. “The council liked the idea and was on board on having a June community event. Area merchants have enthusiastically supported much of the costs. It’s a fun family event and unique to Wood River. We have people from the entire Riverbend area come to participate. Not too many other things can a family do together for the cost of $6.”
The first 175 riders will receive a T-shirt and bike reflector. A child and adult bike will be raffled off for $1 per entry. Once participants complete the bike ride, the Aquatic Center will be open for swimming.
“Two years ago, Jason Woody opened the pool for the participants, which was a great hit,” Maguire said.
The charge is $3 per person or $6 per immediate family. Pre-registration is not required.
Call (618) 251-3130 for information or download the registration form at www.wrparks.org/bike-ramble. A rain date has been set for June 6.
