ALTON — Southern Illinois University Edwardsville senior Corinna Steiner has joined the Alton Regional Convention & Bureau this summer as its newest intern.
Throughout the years, the CVB has worked with SIUE students to help expand their knowledge and introduce them to potential careers. Steiner is a mass communications major focusing on advertising and minoring in art studio. With only one online class and internship to complete, she is thankful to be one step closer to completing her degree and beginning a new career.
“After four years of studying, it’s exciting to get out and apply what I have learned to real life situations,” Steiner said. “I’m not going to lie; I’m a bit nervous. I’m also very excited as well. I’m very thankful for the opportunity that ARCVB has given me and for the warm welcome that I have received. So far everyone has been so kind and helpful. I’m eager to really dive into some projects and learn the ins and outs of this business. I’m happy to be here and can’t wait to see what all I will accomplish and learn.”
This summer Steiner will be assisting with events in Alton throughout the summer and fall. She will be with ARCVB for eight weeks. A quick and eager learner, Steiner is optimistic about the experience and ready to further her knowledge.
“It’s going to be a great experience,” she said. “The atmosphere is very energizing and everyone is so eager to help. I’m not scared to admit if at some point I get a little lost because I know there will always be someone to help guide me back to the right path. I’m ready to give it all I have and to see how I grow.”
Steiner first began her college career looking into pre-pharmacy but then developed more of an interest for mass communications and advertising. When she is not working at ARCVB and Walmart, she enjoys being active outdoors by playing tennis and going on hikes as well as bike rides. She also enjoys going to the gym, working on her art both traditionally and digitally, and enjoying time with her family and friends.
