ALTON | Shannon Fulton, president of the Illinois Solar Energy Association and director of business development at StraightUp Solar, will explain the local potential for solar photovoltaic (electric) energy at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at the First Unitarian Church, 110 E. Third St.
She will discuss economic benefits and how solar advocates across the state have participated in grassroots efforts to enact positive change by increasing support for policy measures to support sustainable energy.
Shannon joined StraightUp Solar in 2013 as director of Illinois business development after many years in environmental consulting as an Illinois licensed professional geologist. She also lives her passion for advancing the use of renewable energy by serving as president of the Illinois Solar Energy Association and as a solar ambassador for WeCare Solar, a nonprofit focused on reducing infant mortality by equipping off-grid medical clinics in developing countries with solar power for lighting and emergency communication.
Attendees and friends are invited to have dinner and meet the speaker starting at 5:30 p.m. at Princivalli's Restaurant, 602 E. Third St., Alton.
