EAST ALTON — The Caritas Family Solutions Secret Santa Program provides Christmas gifts to foster children in Madison and surrounding counties.
Thanks to friends and neighbors in communities served by Caritas, hundreds of excited children awake each Christmas morning to find Santa has found them at their foster home. Surprises like these are something new for many of the children Caritas Family Solutions serves. Some of these children come from troubled homes, and disappointment is often a common occurrence.
There are approximately 250 foster children in the East Alton Region, and Caritas Family Solutions wants to help foster families by providing two or three gifts per child. Toys, games, books, clothing and gift cards are needed for girls and boys infant to age 18. From 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. now through Dec. 4, new, unwrapped items can be taken to the Caritas Family Solutions office at 645 Berkshire Blvd., East Alton. Cash donations are appreciated and will help assist where needed most.
In addition to gifts for children, volunteers are needed to staff the Santa Station during drop-off days. For information, contact Kyle Williams at (618) 213-8716 or visit www.caritasfamilysolutions.org.
