EDWARDSVILLE — State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons will read to grade school students at 7 p.m. tonight at Woodland Elementary School as part of 2016’s Read Across America, sponsored by the National Education Association.
The event, a nationwide reading celebration, is in its 19th year. It honors celebrated children’s author Dr. Seuss, whose birthday is March 2. This year, Woodland Elementary will observe the event on Thursday, March 3. Gibbons will be reading to students in grades 3-5 in several classrooms at the school.
More information about Read Across America can be found on NEA’s website at http://www.nea.org/grants/886.htm. Approximately 500 students attend Woodland Elementary, which is in the Edwardsville School District. For information on the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office, visit www.madco-sa.org.
