ALTON — The Junior League of Greater Alton announces the annual wine, beer and spirits tasting event, Uncorked & Uncapped, will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Jacoby Arts Center, 627 E. Broadway.
“Last year, despite a snow storm, the event was very well-attended and supported,” event chair Abby Lett said. “We are excited to host the event again and are looking forward to an even more successful turnout. It is a wonderful evening and the proceeds of the event will help fund Junior League’s mission to support women and children in the River Bend area.”
Tickets are $25 per person and include tastings of wines and beers. Each attendee receives two vouchers to sample spirits. Hors d’oeuvres will provided. A cash bar is also available.
Participants must be 21 to attend.
The Junior League of Greater Alton is a nonprofit organization of local women that has been promoting volunteerism since 1952. All of the proceeds raised by JLGA throughout the year are used to fund projects and agencies supported by Junior League, including the Family Literacy Program, which assists parents in attaining their GEDs; career exploration, parenting workshops, family visits with literacy activities, library events and support services; the Oasis Women’s Center, which provides shelter and support for battered women and homeless, chemically dependent women and their children; Riverbend Headstart, which provides early childhood education for children living in poverty or who are challenged with special circumstances; and the Riverbender.com Community Center, which provides a safe environment for middle school and high school-age children to interact and learn.
