EDWARDSVILLE — Edwardsville Township will host the third annual Touch-A-Truck event Saturday, Oct. 1, at Edwardsville Township Community Park, 6368 Center Grove Road.
The free event gives families and children the opportunity to explore and learn about vehicles they see every day and some that are rarely accessible.
Last year, the event welcomed more than 6,000 guests to see 30 vehicles, including fire trucks, farm equipment and an emergency helicopter. Edwardsville Township is looking to continue the event’s growth.
The plan this year is to tailor children’s activities to represent the event’s theme, such as a make your own car craft and a construction dig site.
“Our hope is that providing hands-on and creative activities will enhance the experience for kids and result in a rewarding family fun day,” Edwardsville Township Graduate Assistant Chelsea Nollau said.
Food trucks will return, supplying varied cuisine.
To cover costs, the township is seeking sponsors. There are five sponsorship levels, ranging from $50 to $1,000. Each level comes with different promotional and marketing material incentives. All sponsorship material should be returned by Aug. 19.
Anyone interested in bringing a food truck or vehicle to the event needs to submit the completed paperwork by Sept. 1. Volunteers also are needed. Volunteers would assist with setup, take-down, parking and in other capacities.
“Touch-A-Truck has been an extraordinary success the past two years,” Township Supervisor Frank Miles said. “We are hoping to bring out more vehicles and more visitors this year. Follow the event page on Facebook for all reminders; we can’t wait to see you there!”
