In recognition of National Dyslexia Month, the Children’s Dyslexia Center-Southern Illinois will hold its annual Walk-A-Thon to Help Children with Dyslexia on Saturday, Oct. 11.
Experts estimate one in five children is affected by dyslexia, an inheritable neurological condition that interferes with language processing. The Children’s Dyslexia Center has taught 14,236 lessons to 177 children and trained 65 tutors throughout the Metro East since opening in 2002.
In addition, the center provides training and certification of tutors to work with children with dyslexia. Services are provided free to participants and their families.
Several levels of sponsorship are available this year:
$1,000: Banner sponsor (sponsor will be recognized on a banner displayed at center functions throughout the year as well as on the back of the walk T-shirt.)
$250: T-shirt sponsor (sponsor will be recognized on the back of the walk T-shirt.)
$25: Route mile sponsor (sponsor will be recognized along the walking route)
Donations to the Children’s Dyslexia Center are tax-deductible as a charitable contribution. For information, call (618) 235-9392.
