WOOD RIVER — Wednesday is the last day athletes can sign up for the 29th annual Wood River Triathlon.
Registration forms are available on the city’s Parks and Recreation Department website at http://www.wrparks.org/triathlon/. The cost is $50; the forms can be printed out and taken to the Park and Recreation Department facility at 633 N. Wood River Ave., or the form can be filled out at the department.
The entry fee will include a souvenir T-shirt and complimentary brunch. After the race, the Aquatic Center pool and water slide will be available for participants and their families.
The triathlon, sponsored by the Aquatic Center, starts at 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, and includes a 450-meter swim in the center’s Olympic-size pool, a 12-mile bike ride through neighborhood streets and a four-mile run before returning to Central Park.
Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in the following age divisions: 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59 and 60-64. Awards will be handed out for the first male and female finishers in the 65-69 and 70-plus age divisions. The overall winner for male and female and the top team will receive awards.
