• During a regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Wood River Park and Recreation Director Jason Woody addressed the council on the status and condition of the Wood River Aquatic Center.
“When the pool was constructed 30 years ago, it was designed to last approximately 20 years,” Woody said.
He said the pool is showing its age and needs costly repairs. Woody asked the council to consider funding for repairs to the Aquatic Center in the near future. Diagnostic procedures at the end of the 2014 summer season will check the pool’s structure and plumbing system, he said.
• Madison County Treasurer Kurt Prenzler, certified public accountant, addressed the council concerning the 2013 tax bills sent to residents last week. The list of the top 10 taxpayers in Wood River-Business was issued. Madison County has four quarterly due dates, Prenzler said.
• The Wood River Library will kick off the 2014 Summer Reading Program June 7 with a celebration in the library parking lot.
