EDWARDSVILLE — A Missouri man was killed Monday after being pinned by a crane boom.
In a press release, Madison County Coroner Stephen P. Nonn said his office is investigating the death of Justin D. Jokerst, 31, of Perryville, who was pronounced dead by Madison County Coroner’s Investigator Todd R. Ballard at 12:07 p.m. at Worldwide Technology, 3951 Lakeview Corporate Drive, Edwardsville.
Jokerst appeared to be performing service on a Grove HL150T crane boom at ground level when the boom lowered onto him and pinned him underneath. The incident was reported to emergency dispatchers at 11:09 a.m. Jokerst was employed by Taylor Excavating Inc. of St. Louis.
An autopsy examination will be performed and routine toxicology studies will be undertaken to determine the presence of alcohol or drugs. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified and is investigating the incident.
