Agnes Oehler, 93, of Bethalto, went to be with the Lord at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at home with her family by her side while under the care of BJC Hospice.
She was born on Aug. 5, 1922, in Gillespie, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Bartos) Pavlik.
Agnes married Vernon “Dixon” Oehler on Jan. 3, 1941, in Granite City, and he preceded her in death in January 1985.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto, volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. She especially loved her grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids.
Agnes is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Charles Bennett of East Alton, and Carol and Terry Deist of Alton; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Donna Oehler of Dorsey; seven grandchildren, Jason (Trish) Hanks, Lindsey Deist, Darren Deist, Alicia (Andrew) Dreith, Stacie (Jesse) Taylor, Brittany Oehler and Tara Oehler; nine great-grandchildren, Brianna, Brent and Brandon Hanks, Carson and Camden Dreith, Harper and Cooper Schulte, Abby Deist-Alvord and Carter Deist-Klos; and one great-great grandchild, Phoenix Brady.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by eight siblings.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Mark Hofferber officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
