Alberta Marie Cauble, 92, of Granite City, passed away at 12:05 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at Granite Nursing and Rehabilitation in Granite City.
She was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Visintine) Kurtek. She married William O. Cauble on June 12, 1945 in Granite City and he passed away on Sept. 23, 1983. She had worked at the Granite City Press Record. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, a member of Weight Watchers and a member of N.A.R.F.E.
She enjoyed working with crafts and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. She is survived by a daughter, Marge Robbins-Black of Granite City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen L. and Mary Cauble of Granite City and Bruce W. and Judy Cauble of Maryville; five grandchildren and spouses, Stephen and Pam Robbins, William Cauble, Matthew (Nicky) Cauble, Stephanie (Kris) Brissenden and Nyla Cauble; nine great-grandchildren, Jessica, Randi, Emma, Logan, Sophia, Aiden, Tanner, Memphis and Jonathan; one great-great granddaughter, Tobie Rose; two sisters-in-law, Julia Kurtek and Naomi White; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jim Black; and two brothers, Elmer and Charles Kurtek.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, with a prayer service at 5 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2606 Washington Ave. in Granite City, at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, with Father Jeff Holtman as celebrant.
Burial will be at Valhalla Cemetery in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to Breese Hospice in Belleville and Holy Family Church and may be accepted at the funeral home; www.irwinchapel.com.
