Aliene L. Van Buren, 81, of West Alton, Mo., passed away at 6:23 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo.
She was born in St. Charles, Mo., on July 12, 1933, the daughter of the late George Wilson and Hazel (Sparks) Wilson.
On Sept. 5, 1953, she married John H. Van Buren Sr. in St. Charles, Mo.; he passed away on Dec. 15, 1983.
Aliene was a farmer’s wife, helping with the farm on a daily basis. She enjoyed being with her family playing games, (Dice and Monopoly), watching western movies and camping.
She is survived by two sons, John (Sugar) Van Buren of Portage Des Sioux, Mo., and Brian (Jennifer) Van Buren of West Alton; three daughters, Marsha (Paul) Depper of Godfrey, Beverly (James) Hall of Fordsville, Ky., and Patricia (Wayne) Turner of West Alton; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a twin sister, Alice Redmon of St. Charles, Mo.; a brother, Nobel Wilson of St. Charles, Mo., a brother-in-law, Sam Jennings of West Alton, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Adel Schneider of Hartford; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John; her son, Johnny Ray Van Buren; her daughter, Arlene Carol Van Buren; a brother, James “Sunny” Wilson; and two sisters, Opal Gardner and Barbara Jennings.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
