Alma E. (Davis) Kelly, 82, of Marion, Ky., formerly of Bost Orchard Road in Creal Springs, Ill., passed to her eternal home at 11:52 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, surrounded by family at the home of her son.
She was born in Williamson County, Ill., in the Dykersburg community on Dec. 6, 1933, the daughter to the late Harrison B. Davis and Elsie (Barwick) Davis.
She married Loren W. (Bill) Kelly on Dec. 8, 1951, in Piggott, Ark., and he preceded her in death on June 16, 1998.
Alma attended the Walnut Hill Baptist Church and in later years the Springhill Baptist Church.
She loved her flowers, gardening, sewing, chickens, birds, church and playing her piano.
Alma and her husband raised six children and took in several foster children in their years of marriage. Survived by daughter, Kathy (Lloyd BoBo) Schilling of Bethalto; son, Loren David (Debbie) Kelly of Brighton; sons, Rick (Diane) Kelly of Indiana and Randy (Pamela) Kelly of Marion, Ky.; daughters, Gwen Kelly of Bethalto and Julie (Steve) Lindsey of Creal Springs; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; her beloved dog, Princess; sisters, Lou Feltz of Creal Springs and Pearl Lynn of Joliet; and her brother, Kenneth Davis.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by brothers, William, James, Johnny and Edward Kelly; sisters, Wilma Davis, Dorothy Bailey and Reva Berard; and a very special granddaughter, Lauren Michelle Kelly.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. The Rev. Jerry Schell will officiate and burial will be in the Coal Bank Springs Cemetery in rural Marion.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to the service time at noon on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials in her memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
