Ann M. Hamilos, 93, of Granite City, died at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Stearns Nursing and Rehab Center in Granite City.
She was born Dec. 23, 1920, in Granite City, the daughter to Arthur and Libbie Lombardi.
Ann attended high school in Granite City. While in her senior year, she went to work at Nesco. She met her future husband, Christopher E. Hamilos, during a dance at Polish Hall in Madison. They were married 61 years. Ann and her husband, Chris, worked at Hamilos Brothers Meats, which they co-owned with her husband’s brother and sister-in-law. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Her main interest in life was her family and her faith. In later years, she enjoyed watching and attending Cardinal baseball games.
Ann is survived by two sisters; two brothers; one son and his spouse, Dr. David and Becky Hamilos of Johnson City, Tenn.; two daughters and their spouses, Sharon and Jim Parker of Granite City, Karen and Brian Oestricker of Collinsville; along with four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Delores Mort; and her son, Christopher A. Hamilos.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2300 Pontoon Road, Granite City, on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at 10 a.m. with Father Chris Comerford as celebrant.
Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
