Antonio Joseph Martinez, 23, of Bethalto, passed away at 9:53 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at his home.
He was born Jan. 13, 1991, in Alton, the son of Joseph and Brenda (McDuffy) Martinez.
Antonio was a student and a member of Calvary Temple in Alton. He was an Illinois State Champion in figure skating and gymnastics. He trained in karate as a youth and he enjoyed baseball, going to the movies, working with computers and electronics and he had planned on becoming a doctor.
In addition to his parents of Bethalto, he is survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Heather and Carl Davis of Bethalto, Diane Martinez Toro of Granite City and Melissa and Dan Saul of Granite City; a brother, Ryan Smith and his girlfriend, Tammy Oseland of Cottage Hills; his nieces and nephews, Salvador, Nathan, Danielle, Cody, Maria, Salena, Gabriella, Matthew, Avy Day, Jenna, Cole, Keaton and Jessa; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Burial will follow at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery.
