Arlene B. Gosling, 89, formerly of Godfrey, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Delmar Gardens of O’Fallon, Mo.
She was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Alton. She was raised by Rebecca Balaster, who she thought of as her mother.
She married Harold R. Gosling on May 23, 1964, in Alton, and he preceded her in death in August of 1998.
Mrs. Gosling had worked at Wedge Bank as a teller for 42 years. She was a faithful member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Godfrey. Arlene was especially fond of her three poodles, Jacquo, Coco and Cuddles.
She is survived by two step-daughters, Sandy and Jan; three granddaughters and their spouses, Rachel, Maria and Peter, and Amanda and Eric; five great-grandchildren and their spouses, Ericca and Darion, Chelsie and Jordan, Paige, Baya, and Marley; and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Harold; she is preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Maurice Pfeffer.
Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, from 10 a.m. until a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Godfrey with Pastor Kenneth Tegtmeier officiating.
Interment will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Arlene wished that memorials be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church or to 5A’s Animal Shelter.
