Barbara J. Rose, 80, of Granite City, passed away at 3:54 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
She was born April 7, 1935, in Anna, Ill., the daughter of the late Artie Holmes and Tressie Holmes Nation. She enjoyed her days of reading, working word puzzles, walking and playing Rummy. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin F. Rose, who passed away on Sept. 11, 1971, and three brothers, Delbert, Norman and Glen Holmes.
She is survived by four children, Connie Welch of Granite City, Brenda (Rick) Goacher of Springfield, David Rose of Granite City and Bobby Rose of Springfield; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Smith of Springfield and Shirley Shreeves of Springfield; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be 4 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, with the Rev.
