Barbara M. Gentry, 87, of Bethalto, passed away at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Sept. 24, 1928, in Harrisburg, the daughter of the late Clarence and Ruby (Rice) Potter.
She married Lucious Leon Gentry on Sept. 7, 1947, in Morganfield, Ky. He preceded her in death Aug. 6, 2009.
Barbara was a mental health aide at Alton Mental Health and at Alton Community Counseling. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel S. and Arlene Gentry of Bunker Hill and Russell L. and Fran Gentry of Bethalto; four grandchildren, Danyel, Derek, Dustin and Christopher; and nine beautiful and loving great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband and her siblings, James Butner Potter, Samuel Potter, Elizabeth Potter, Mary Potter and Helen Potter.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Andre Dobson officiating.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be given to Macoupin County Adopt-A-Pet Shelter.
