Barbara R. Witt, 88, of Alton, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
She was born in Harrisburg on March 26, 1926, the daughter of the late William F. and Anna Broadway.
She married James C. Witt on October 30, 1947. He survives.
Barbara worked at Alton Memorial for over ten years and retired in 1992. She was a member of Godfrey 1st United Methodist Church and White Cross Volunteer Auxiliary at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, James; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda (Otis) Nichols of Florida, Carla (Edward) Schwegel of Godfrey; two sons, Alan of Fosterburg and Todd Witt of Alton; four grandchildren, Erin (Seth) Phillips, Eric Schwegel, Matt (Karin) Witt, and Christopher Witt; five great-grandchildren, Ian, Hannah, Elyse Phillips, Logan Witt, Ashlyn and Claire Witt; and two sisters-in-law, Bernice Broneic and Betty Broadway.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry Broadway, Richard Broadway, Bill Broadway; and one sister, Janet Goessman.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens Chapel in Bethalto. Reverend Don Long and Chaplain Bruce Baumberger will officiate.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Godfrey 1st United Methodist Church or St. Louis Shriners Hospital.
