Berniece V. Robertson Hooper, 98, formerly of East Alton, died at 3:50 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at Stearns Nursing and Rehab in Granite City.
She was born June 26, 1916, in Dixon, the daughter to the late T.L. and Grace (Jones) Henson.
Berniece had been the owner of the Unique Café in Edwardsville. She was a very active lady who enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for many friends. She also loved to keep up on all important current events in the National Enquirer.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Judy Robertson of Granite City; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John R. Robertson and Hal Hooper; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley V. and Jack Loyd; sister, Nola Coleman; and two brothers, Wilbert and Delbert Henson.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park.
