Betty F. Schneck, 86, of Greenville, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at her residence in Greenville.
She was born on Monday, April 1, 1929, in Alhambra, the daughter of Charles and Dovie (nee Rasor) Pruitt.
On Saturday, April 12, 1947, she married Willard W. Schneck, who passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005.
Betty was born west of Alhambra and grew up on the family farm. She attended Plant Country School, west of Greenville. She worked at a glove factory in Greenville, and then Moulton-Bartley Shoe Factory in Highland. She and her husband farmed east of Alhambra. They raised pigs and operated a grain farm. After her husband’s death, she moved to Greenville. Betty enjoyed gardening. She was a fantastic cook and loved to entertain her brothers and sisters and their children. She and her husband loved to dance at Alhambra Fireman’s Hall.
Survivors include a niece, Karen File of Pocahontas; a brother, Clyde J. (Geraldine) Pruitt of Greenville; and a sister, Edna O. (Dale) Suever of Highland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard W. Schneck, who died Nov. 26, 2005; father, Charles P. Pruitt, and mother, Dovie J. Pruitt (nee Rasor); brother, Herman H. Pruitt, who died Sept. 7, 1989; sisters, Ada Carter, Sadie J. Mettler (died Feb. 5, 2001) and Martha M. Mersinger; and brothers, Edmund Charles “Jack” Pruitt, Clifford Pruitt and Robert Pruitt.
Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, with Brother Gary E. Pruitt, Pastor, Elkville Christian Church, Elkville, Ill., officiating.
Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Alhambra.
