“Betty” Floyd, age 84, of Alton, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2015, at her residence with her family by her side.
She was born Feb. 11, 1931, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., the daughter of the late Daniel and Audra (Mulligan) Sullivan.
She married Calvin Cledis Floyd on Jan. 14, 1949, in Arkansas. He preceded her in death in March of 1977.
Betty was the food service manager at the Venture Department Store in Alton, enjoyed playing cards and Bunco, enjoyed working in her flower garden and tending to them for many years; her greatest love was spending time with her family.
She is survived by four children, Debbie Floyd, Don Floyd, Terry Floyd and Denise and her spouse, Brad Jones, all of Alton; nine grandchildren, Jason, Patrick, Marcie, Jeremy, Adrienne, Preston, Garth, Gevon and Garan-Harley; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Calvin Al Floyd and Tommy Lee Floyd; five brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. The Rev. David Gentry will officiate.
Private burial service will be at the Upper Alton Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Foundation.
