Betty J. Harshbarger, 76, of Cottage Hills, went to be with the Lord at 1:40 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015, at OSF Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Alton.
She was born on July 19, 1938, in Arkansas, the daughter of the late Robert E. and Ada Belle Morris.
She married Donald L. Harshbarger in September of 1956. He passed away on Dec. 12, 2007.
Betty enjoyed crafts, baking, flowers and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Terry Harshbarger and Karen Mitchell of Bethalto, Gary and Debbie Harshbarger of Cottage Hills, and Valerie and Tim Smith of Cottage Hills; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Gary, Christopher (Michelle), Scott (Whitney) and Jason (Jenny) Harshbarger, April Harshbarger (Kyle Kappler), Kara (Dave) Tranter, Layne Smith, Mandi (James) Keller, Nikki Smith (Art Fuller) and Sara (Quentin) Wagner; 10 great-grandchildren with three on the way and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter-in-law, Cindy Harshbarger; three brothers, Robert, Bud and Rusty Morris; and two sisters, Joan Neal and Rosmary Knight.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, with Pastor Erik Scottberg officiating.
Burial will follow at Short Cemetery in Cottage Hills.
