Betty Jean Zaruba, 89, of Granite City, died at 3:05 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born May 1, 1926 in Gary, Ind., the daughter to the late Robert Ransom and Nancy (Clark) Harrell.
On Sept. 21, 1946, she and Frank Edward Zaruba were married in Granite City. He survives in Granite City.
Mrs. Zaruba enjoyed crocheting and had been a member of Cedar View General Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband of 69 years, she is survived by two sons, Robert (Patricia) Zaruba and James “Ed” (Rita) Zaruba of Granite City; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Lisa) Zaruba, Dawn (Joe) Green, LeAnne (Mike) Fetrow and Nicole Zaruba; two great-grandchildren, Mathew and Jacob Fetrow; and a brother, Ray (Mary) Harrell of Granite City.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred June Moe and Genevieve Mae Gum; and four brothers, Robert, Joseph, James and Dean Harrell.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory, where services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, with Cecil Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Buck Road Cemetery.
