Betty L. Broadway, 86, of Bethalto, passed away at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Eunice Smith Nursing Home in Alton.
She was born on July 26, 1928, in Kane, the daughter of William Ross and Lillian (Burton) Greenwood.
She married William T. Broadway on Sept. 15, 1949, in Kane. He passed away on Oct. 21, 2010.
Betty was a registered nurse and had previously worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Alton and retired from Alton Memorial Hospital in 1996. She was a member of the Bethalto United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the Women’s Society and MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers). She enjoyed gardening, traveling, cruises, visiting Disney World with her family, crafts and crocheting.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Gayla Broadway of St. Charles, Mo.; a son-in-law, Larry Forehand of Rosewood Heights; four grandchildren and their spouses, Keith and Alyssa Broadway and Kyle and Kristen Broadway, Amy and Andrew Weaver and Julie Forehand; three great-grandchildren, Katie Beth, Jake and Tessa Lynn; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Lynn Forehand and her siblings, Cordelia Grizzle, Kenneth Greenwood, Edith Greenwood, Bea Hoff, Carol Alexander, Margaret Grizzle, Shirley Ballard, Imogene “Jeanie” Brown and Glen Greenwood.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Joe Richard officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
