Bonnie Ruth Clifton, 82, of Biloxi, Miss., passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015, at her residence.
She was born in Venice, Ill., on Nov. 15, 1932, to Frederick Wesley and Minnie Luettia (nee: Wheeler) Griffin.
Bonnie married Edwin Eugene Clifton on Aug. 10, 1951 in Edwardsville.
She was executive director of Life Care Nursing Center for several years. Bonnie loved her family and was devoted to them.
Besides her husband of 63 years, Bonnie is survived by one son, Charles “Chuck” and Judy Clifton of Edwardsville; three grandchildren, Danielle and Ed Underwood of Columbia, Ill., Chad Clifton of Edwardsville and Josh Clifton of Edwardsville; and two great-grandchildren, Kylie Underwood and Alyssa Clifton, both of Columbia, Ill. Also surviving are two brothers, Jesse and Lavern Clifton of Glen Carbon and Dale Griffin of Madison; two sisters, Lucy Klueter of Biloxi, Miss., and Joyce and John Eales of Moro, Ill. Bonnie is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Griffin of Ironton, Mo., and Violet Clifton of Edwardsville; extended family member Jeanne Shinn and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by one son, Robert Clifton; four brothers, Fred “Ted,” Leon, Frank “Jack” and Raymond “Roy” Griffin; a brother-in-law, Robert Clifton; and extended family member John Shinn.
