Brenda K. (Davis-Jordan) Holmes, 67, of Granite City, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at her home, with her loving family by her side. She was born on June 15, 1949, in Cairo, a daughter of the late Junior and Wanda (Hicks) Davis.
On July 1, 1995, Brenda married Robert Leroy Holmes in Granite City. She was the owner and operator of Brenda’s Restaurant in Granite City for many years. Brenda enjoyed working, cooking and serving others. She also enjoyed making flower arrangements and going to yard sales. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Brenda loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Kenneth Jordan; half-sister, Lisa Davis; great-granddaughter, Destinee Jordan; and one nephew, Sgt. Bobby Davis.
Brenda is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Holmes of Granite City; loving daughter, Rhonda Renee (David) Osborne of Granite City; dear stepdaughter, Melissa Weller of Granite City; proud grandmother to Kenny Jordan, Nicholas Bonk, Kenneth Bonk, Alyssa Weller and Tiffani Weller; proud great-grandmother to Daniel Hale and Bosco Jordon; brother, Jimmy Joe Davis of Sandoval, Ill.; half sisters, Roseann Thomas of Phoenix, Ariz., and Norma Wayne of Texas; extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City. In celebration of her life, funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at Irwin Chapel. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
