C. Renee Tinker, 60, of Alton, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton with her family by her side.
Renee was born Jan. 22, 1954, in Wood River Township, the only daughter of the late James Allen and Clara Marie (Champlin) Miller.
A graduate of Alton Senior High School, Class of 1972, Renee was formerly married to Jeffrey Lee Tinker in 1974.
Renee worked in customer service for more than 25 years and became well-known across the community at Broadway Zephyr and Schwegel’s Market in Upper Alton. She also worked as a cook at Burt’s Sheltercare.
A proud mother and grandmother, Renee is survived by her two sons and their spouses, Jeremy and Christa Tinker, Adam and Breanna Kennedy Tinker; five grandchildren, Alex, Devon, Hannah, Ethan and Adalynn; many aunts and cousins; her lifelong friend, Debby Knight-Henning of Alton; and her dog, Duke.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at the Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, where private funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014.
Burial will follow at the Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton.
