Carl Edward Roe, 74, of Brighton, passed away at 7:42 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born in Hahn, Mo., April 22, 1941, the son to Truman and Ruby (Long) Roe.
Carl married Margaret (Ross) June 1, 1963, in Meadowbrook. She survives.
Carl served his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Laclede Steel Co. in Alton, retiring as a supervisor. He was a past worshipful Master of Bethalto AF & AM Masonic Lodge No. 406 and an Ainad Shriner. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Brighton; one son, Dion Roe of Brighton; and a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Judy Roe of Meadowbrook; two grandchildren, Darian Roe of Brighton and Ian and Karlie Roe of Panama City, Fla.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Ruby Roe; his two brothers, Donny and Bill Roe; and his sisters, Dorothy Estes, Jean Helden and Jane Silas.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf in Bethalto, with a Masonic Rites service at 7 p.m. by the Bethalto Masonic Lodge No. 406.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2016, with Chaplain Randy Butler officiating.
Burial will be at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with Military Burial Rites provided by Alton VFW No. 1308.
Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
