Carolyn Jean Barnes, 74, of Godfrey, passed away at 11:34 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at home with her loving family by her side after a long battle with cancer.
She was born Jan. 21, 1941, in Wood River, the daughter of the late LeOtis Beach and Virgie (Cummings) Longbottom.
On Feb. 16, 1972, she married Kenneth G. Barnes in Edwardsville. He survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Angela Garrett of Godfrey, Paul (Karen) Carter Jr. of Godfrey and Diane Carter of Godfrey; one grandson, Christopher Willis of Alton; two sisters, Glenda Kay Northcutt of Godfrey and Sherry Jo (Bobby) Riley of Wanatah, Ind.; one brother, Floyd (Jennifer) Longbottom of New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Lee Barnes; and brother, Carlton Longbottom Jr.
In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
