Catherine M. Wallis
Catherine M. Wallis, 75, of Granite City and formerly of Effingham, Ill., passed away at 10:55 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at Fountain View Memory Care in Granite City.
She was born Aug. 11, 1939, in Moriah, N.Y., a daughter of the late Albert Dudley and Eva (Allen) Callaway. She married William S. Wallis on May 25, 1956, in St. Louis and he passed away on Sept. 6, 2004. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church, where she was baptized and confirmed. She was a member of the Effingham Humane Society and the Good Neighbors of Lake Sara. She had a special love of her pets and enjoyed her days of playing the guitar, singing and cooking and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Desiree Ann Wills of Chaffee, Mo., and Janette M. and Michael Barry of Granite City; two grandchildren and spouse, David Wills of Jackson, Mo., and Amanda and Jared Jackson of Chaffee, Mo., and four great-grandchildren, Collin Jackson, Mackenzie Jackson, Corinne Jackson and Clayton Wills; one sister, Betty Keller of Granite City; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Albert A. Dudley.
In celebration of her life, a service will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, with the Rev. Dr. David Fielding officiating.
