Charles E. Fudge Jr., 65, of Granite City, passed away quietly at his home on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015.
Charles “Charlie” was born on June 5, 1949, in St. Louis.
He was a longtime employee of Ravanelli’s in Granite City and a good husband who enjoyed fishing, traveling and bowling with friends. When young he was called “Popeye” and will especially be remembered for his kind heart and love of family. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Fudge Sr.; mother, Sybil (nee: Ellis) Fudge and a sister, Patricia Fudge.
Charles is survived by and will be dearly missed by his wife, the former Bettie Daile Thompson, of 32 years, who he married on Sept. 13, 1981; a sister, Victoria Pashea of Mount Vernon; a brother, Larry Fudge of Mount Vernon; a sister, Susan Hall of Florida; a brother, James “Jimmy” Fudge of Nashville; and a sister, Janie Pritchett, also of Mount
Vernon; 12 nieces and nephews, and his great-nieces and nephews, who will greatly miss him.
Charles never had children of his own but truly cared for the sons and daughters and loved ones he shared with his lovely wife, Bettie, and he will be sorely missed by them, Mrs. Melody (Gene) Garrett, Mr. Buford “Dean” (Rhonda) DeForest, Ms. Rebecca VanScoyk, Mrs. Helen (Chet) Fetter, Ms. Melinda Dioneda and Mr. David DeForest; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved him and will miss him, along with dear friends.
