Charles L. Mase, 83, of Granite City, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
He was born on June 4, 1932, in Wharton, N.J., a son to the late Charles W. and Minnie E. (Dunkin) Mase.
Charles was a Flight Information Specialist for the United States Air Force and proudly served his country in the Korean War in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by and will be missed by his wife, Joan (Cann) Mase, whom he married on May 6, 1958; his sons, Curt and (Mary) Mase of Spanish Fort, Ala., Richard Mase of Navarre, Fla., Jeff Mase of Maryville, and Rodney and (Michelle) Mase of Glen Carbon; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his sisters, Audrey Drake and Charlotte Oswald.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of his life, services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Hancock officiating. Burial will follow with full military rites at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials are suggested to the Madison County Veterans Association.
