Charles L. “Chuck” Phillips, 67, of Cottage Hills, passed away at 8:24 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at Kindred Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Feb. 25, 1947, in Leon, Iowa, a son of Frances E. (Paris) Phillips of Rock Island, Ill., and the late Charles E. Phillips.
Chuck was an over-the-road truck driver for C.F.I. and had previously worked for McDonnell Douglas. He was a member of the Alton Moose Lodge No. 951 and was a member of the Brothers of the Third Wheel. He enjoyed riding his days of motorcycle riding, watching western movies and socializing at The Sports Tap. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved mother, he is survived by his cherished daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and Maury Gardner of Cottage Hills, Candie and Mike Liley of Bethalto and Christie and Kenneth Edwards of South Roxana; four grandchildren, Amanda Phillips, Ryan Liley, Tommy Thompson and Paige Phillips; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Linda Phillips, Tim and Elaine Phillips and Tom and Debbie Phillips, all of Rock Island; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeani Phillips of Rock Island and Sheryl and Denny Carlin of New Windsor; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
In addition to his beloved father, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Mikey Liley; and a granddaughter, Kelsey Phillips.
In celebration of his life, a memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at The Senior Center, 100 E. Central St. in Bethalto. The Rev. Charles West will officiate.
