Charles Norman Morlen, 81, of Granite City, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Fountain View Manor, Granite City. Norman was born on Feb. 24, 1935, in Van Buren, Mo., the son of the late Everett and Stella (Richardson) Morlen.
On Aug. 8, 1954, Norman married Jeanette Crockarell, the love of his life, in Granite City. Norman was a faithful and dedicated member of Tri-City Assembly of God Church in Granite City. He had retired as a millwright from Granite City Steel after 41 years of service. Norman enjoyed working and providing for his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Norman is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanette Morlen of Granite City; loving children, Janet (Eldon) Monk of Spring, Texas, Rickey (Patricia) Morlen of Huffman, Texas, David (Kelly) Morlen of Granite City, and Robyn (Donny) Young of Spring, Texas; proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City. A second visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Tri-City Assembly of God Church, 3400 Maryville Road, Granite City.
In celebration of his life, funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Tri-City Assembly of God Church with Pastor Barry Shepherd officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Alzheimer’s Association or Tri-City Assembly of God Church.
