Charles R. Johnson, 74, of Edwardsville, born March 12, 1941, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 17, 2015, with his loving wife and family at his side.
Charlie “Dick” attended Civic Memorial High School and retired from Sears Roebuck as an installation contractor. Over the years he had the unique ability, knowledge and gift to be able to fix or repair just about anything he set his mind to, a very rare talent. Dick did mechanical work, welding and did beautiful remodeling work, just a name a few.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Osce and Helen (nee Boyles) Johnson; and two sons, Stephen and Rodney Johnson.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Betty Johnson (nee Ellis); sons, Marty Johnson and wife, Christy and Rick Johnson and wife, Sandy; stepsons, John Marinko, Victor Marinko and wife, Dara; stepdaughter, Linda Christian and husband, Fred; and eight wonderful grandchildren that he was so proud of and enjoyed so much.
At his request, he will be cremated and requested no memorial or visitation. Interment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto at a later date.
