Charline “Mickey” Burns, 83, of Granite City, passed away at 2:14 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
She was born Nov. 6, 1931, in Madison, a daughter of the late Charles and Nancy (Jones) Lybarger. Mickey retired from the Madison School District in 2001 after 23 years of dedicated service as a security guard. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madison. She cherished being with her family and especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. Burns; a son, Edward Burns; a daughter, Denise Burns; and five siblings. She is survived by a daughter, Debra (Kenny Bonk) Uhercik of Granite City; a son, Mark (Karen Bobbitt) Burns of Oakville, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Laurie Burns Korman; five grandchildren, Chris (Angie) Burns of Millstadt, Tonya (Marques) Binion of Granite City, Matthew (Michelle) Uhercik of Granite City, Ryne (Shannon Paoli) Burns of Granite City and Jonathan Burns of Granite City; eight great-grandchildren, Cameron, Taylor, Gabrielle, Chloe, Kaelyn, Mason, Mackenzie and Avery; two sisters, Janice Rice of Granite City and Shirley Rapoff of Maryville; two brothers, Ronald Lybarger of Florida and Charles (Jene) Lybarger of Effingham; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, where funeral services will be held at noon Friday, June 26, 2015, with the Rev. Steve McKinney officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
