Charlotte D. Sexton Wiltshire, 96, of Bethalto, passed away at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Bethalto Care Center in Bethalto under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice.
She was born Feb. 21, 1920, in Kane, the daughter of George and Mary (Pranger) Milner.
She was married to Neil Sexton on Nov. 26, 1935, in Jerseyville, he passed away in 1961. She then remarried Jewel Wiltshire on July 10, 1976, in Alton; he passed away in 1995.
Charlotte was employed at Angel Cream Donut Shop in Bethalto and at Sun Ray Restaurant both for several years. She was a member of Godfrey Baptist Church and more recently Whitelaw Baptist in Wood River, Moro Woman’s Club, Thursday Woman’s bowling club, Sr. Citizen League and Jerseyville Woman’s Moose, where she liked to dance the polka. She enjoyed bowling well into her 80s having several 300 games, being with her friends and most of all she loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Vickie Cherry (Stan Kennedy) of Bethalto; one daughter-in-law, Betty Sexton; four grandchildren, Ginny (Chris) Copley, Brady (Jennifer) Cherry, Brent Cherry and Emily Sexton; and nine great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one son, Delmar Sexton; three sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2016, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, with Pastor Richard Newcom officiating.
Burial will follow at Kane Cemetery in Kane.
Memorials may be made to the Whitelaw Baptist Church in Wood River “Benevolent Fund” and/or the American Diabetes Association.
