Claude M. Davis, 72, of Granite City, passed away on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at Gateway Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.
He was born on Oct. 15, 1943, in Chaffee, Mo., a son of the late Arthur and Alta M. (Dennis) Davis.
Claude was best known for his handyman skills throughout the Granite City area. He was a longtime employee of American Steel, then went on to own Davis Construction. Claude was a former member of First Assembly of God in Granite City and in his free time he enjoyed to deer hunt and fish.
He is survived by and will be missed by his wife, Eileen (Boushard) Davis, whom he married on Oct. 17, 1963; his son, Paul Davis of Granite City; his daughter, Ruth and (Scott) McCormick of St. Peters, Mo.; grandchildren, Zac Davis and Chris Davis; and sister-in-law, Joyce Longbottom.
In addition to his parents, Claude was preceded in death by his brother, Adam Davis; sisters, Joan Germenceri , Zella Scziglak, and Margie Floyd; granddaughter, Linsdey White Davis; and nephew, Daris Davis.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of his life, services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Rayson officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road in Granite City. Memorials are suggested to Nameoki United Methodist Church, 1900 Pontoon Road, Granite City, IL 62040.
