Clifford Eugene Null, 80, of Wood River, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
Born on Nov. 3, 1935, in Taskee, Mo., he was the son of Raymond and Winnie (Warren) Null.
Clifford was a kind, gentle man who deeply loved his family. He was a provider, having worked 35 years in the sheet metal assembly division of McDonnell-Douglas before retiring in 1991. His great faith in God led him to pastor at the “Gospel of the Kingdom Tabernacle” in Wood River until health issues made him retire. His comfort provided in hard times and soft words during times of sorrow allow him to share his faith, provide guidance and encouragement to others. He was a protecter, the first of his brothers, then of his family, extended family and the young persons in the church, always offering them love and instruction of how to be morally straight and good citizens. Wherein leaving, he would admonish to us to “Be Good,” in which we will — till we see him again.
He married Dolores Lee Hand on Sept. 10, 1953, in Puxico, Mo. She survives.
Surviving also are a son, Clifford Matthew (Cathy) Null of East Alton; two daughters, Pamella (Allen) Beck of Plainview and Lucinda “Cindy” (Russ) Hannis of Rosewood Heights; seven grandchildren, Monica (Matt) Wolff, Nathan (Jamie) Palmer, Christopher (September) Beck, Garrett (Jennifer) Beck, Jerrica (Benjamin) Ross, Elisabeth Null (Kory Lehman), and Rebekah Null; 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth (Barbara) Null of Puxico, Mo., Virgil Null of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Robert (Linda) Null of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Null.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Null.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015. Brother Richard Hand and the Rev. Bon Reynolds will officiate.
Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
