Clifford Hyman Sr., 85, of Brighton, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, at Alton Nursing and Rehabilitation with his wife and children by his side.
He was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Alton, the son of William M. and Cecile (Fisher) Hyman. He married Pauline Lewis on June 27, 1951 in Alton, and she survives.
Mr. Hyman served with the U.S. Army. He retired from Alton Memorial Hospital where he worked as a Surgical Technician. He attended services at the Salvation Army of Alton. He enjoyed working on the family farm, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Pauline; he is survived by two sons and their wives, Clifford and Kim Hyman Jr. of Brighton, and Michael and Kathleen Hyman of Godfrey; six daughters and their husbands, Janice Hyman of Brighton, Donna and Mike Mellenthin of Bunker Hill, Sharon and Louis Steward of Cottage Hills, Brenda and Lloyd Knight of Bethalto, Mary and Gary Gerdt of Roxana, and Cathy and Ed Campagna of Alton; two brothers, Jack Hyman of Bethalto and Donald Hyman Sr. of Gillespie; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, in the funeral home chapel with Lts. Brian and Terri Ellison officiating.
Burial will take place in Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army of Alton.
