Cyril “Nick” Koch D.D.S., 88, of Chesterfield, Mo., formerly of Alton, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at Brooking Park Nursing Care.
He was born Jan. 17, 1926, in Highland, the son of John and Wilhelmena (Wagner) Koch.
Nick served in the 20th Armored Division in the U.S. Army.
He married Geraldine Wetstein on Oct. 3, 1953, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, and she preceded him in death in 2004. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Dr. Koch owned and operated a dental practice on Milton Road for 50 years. He was a member of Madison County Dental Society and was instrumental in establishing the Southern Illinois Dental School in Alton. He was an initial member of the Lockhaven Country Club, as well as the Knights of Columbus. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed traveling and bowling.
He is survived by six children and their spouses, Anne Glogovac (Vic) of Maryland Heights, Mo., Kathryn Fellbaum (Bryce) of Idaho Springs, Colo., Mary Ellen Dellwo (Lawrence) of Forest Lake, Minn., Robert Koch M.D. (Kathleen) of Apple Valley, Minn., Carol Koch and her husband, Jim Shoun, of Edwards, Colo., and Bill Koch of Minneapolis, Minn.; a sister, JoAnn Fuhler of Highland; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, Geraldine, he was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Frances; a brother, Paul Koch; and a sister, Adrienne Long.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
A private family burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation.
