Dale G. Henry, 87, of Glen Carbon, and formerly of Catlin, Ill., passed away at 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
He was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Chicago, a son of the late Eli R. and Ethel H. (Carlson) Henry. He married Dorothy V. (McKinney) Henry on Dec. 16, 1948, in Mountain Home, Ark., and she survives. Dale retired as an inspector in February 1982 from Hyster Company in Danville after 31 years of dedicated service. The United States veteran proudly served his country with the Marines during World War II. He was a faithful member of the Anchor Masonic Lodge in Danville for many years prior to transferring to the Edwardsville Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed his days of working construction, fishing and golfing and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by four children, Robert Henry of Granite City, Marilyn Arnzen of Connell, Wash., Debra (Paul) Stayduhar of Glen Carbon, and Donald Henry of Granite City; four grandchildren, Terry (Monica) Decker, Hilary (Andrew) Arnzen-Willis, Kyle Arnzen and Caitlyn Stayduhar; two great-grandchildren, Keara Decker and Savian Willis; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Decker; a son-in-law, Douglas Arnzen; and two brothers, John and Lawrence Henry.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be noon until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon, with the Rev. Carl Watkins officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
